I went to MIT for undergrad, earning a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering. However, the one class that meant the most to me during my time there was 21.W379 - Writing Science Fiction. It was a workshop-style class instructed by Hugo and Nebula Award winning author Joe Haldeman. I received a lot of encouragement from Mr. Haldeman in that class, which is a large part of what led me to apply to film school after graduation.

The first assignment for the class required us to write a story from two distinctly different points of view. Being a science fiction class, the assumption was that most would offer up stories with a human as one POV and some alien or A.I. as the other, which is what most people did. For my story, I presented a normal adult human and a neurodiverse girl who was the subject of a bizarre experiment.
