Fantasia: Music Evolved
Music Game
Content Designer
I was originally hired as a designer on Project Abbey, which was supposed to be a Kinect launch title for the upcoming Xbox One. Microsoft wanted a Kinect adventure game for hardcore early adopters. The player was a hero with a set of Icarus-style wings and could control their flight with various body motions. Unfortunately, Microsoft wanted more focus on combat and that never came together. The game was cancelled about a month after I arrived, and I was reassigned to the Fantasia team.
Another Kinect title, Fantasia had the player exploring various musical realms while also performing a beat-matching sort of conducting game. I worked on the realms, which served as gateways to the music games and also hosted some mini-games and other musical interactions of their own. I worked on four realms in total, though one (the Shoals) was later turned into the tutorial level and was taken over by a different designer to refit for that purpose. The other realms were the Shadows, the Hollow, and the Capsule.
